The TSAF 705 Steel Rail is the steel version of the rigid rail used in the rail-type Vertical Lifeline System. It is made from S235 steel with a hot-dip galvanised (HDG) finish. The catalogue lists a minimum breaking strength of 15 kN and a weight of 1.5 kg per metre for the steel version.
Like the aluminium rail, it is mounted on the ladder or structure and guides the TSAF 202 fall arrestor trolley along the climb. It is joined with TSAF 703 rail connectors, fixed to ladders with TSAF 708 connectors and fitted with end stoppers so the trolley cannot run off the rail. The choice between aluminium and steel rail is made during system design.
